Today I was grateful for a day off to exercise, organize the apartment, and do some laundry! I had an appointment early this morning and was lucky enough to be home before 10am to have the rest of my day wide open.
I've been trying to get back to some old workout routines, as well as get back into running, as I took some time off from doing cardio every day. When it comes to working out, I usually decide that day what I feel like doing; whether it's going for a run, walking into town, or going to the gym for a couple hours. It's honestly personal choice, If I don't want to push myself with a workout that I know will totally exhaust my body for the rest of the day, I'll do some cardio in the morning, and then head to the gym for a quick HIIT workout on my way home, or do an at-home workout before dinner.
Anyway - today I did a light jog to the track in town where I did some sprints and some dynamic stretching, then ran back home to do an at-home arm/ab HIIT workout. We're lucky enough to live within a mile of the Phillips Exeter athletics facility so I've been trying to incorporate some sprint workouts before Summer ends and school sports pick up!
When I got home I could feel my stomach rumbling with hunger and because it was sooo hot out I was craving a cold, green smoothie. Below is a rough recipe of what I made, I don't measure anything so this is all approximate, enjoy!
1 cup water, cold and filtered
1 scoop vanilla protein
2 handfuls spinach
1 tsp maca powder
1 Tbsp moringa powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp brown rice syrup
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp hemp seeds
2-3 Tbsp Grandy-Oats GF Coconola
Blitz all ingredients, top with your favorite superfoods or fresh fruits and granola. Enjoy!
